At Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center, we’ve started a partnership with Sebring International Raceway and kicked it off by operating the medical center at a recent race event. The race was exciting, but the comments by the track management team, race teams and officials were what made it exceptional. The medical liaison for IMSA (International Motor Sports Association) who owns and manages the track said that our medical center was already the best one of all their tracks. Pretty good comments given this was our team’s first race!
Our team of dedicated providers led by Dr. Edwin Pigman and Nurse Manager Kelly Ashworth organized and managed our medical center at the raceway, while two of our exceptional ER physicians manned the center and provided trackside support. Our Foundation team led by Christen Johnson provided welcome baskets to the race teams and major sponsors. The recipients said they had never experienced such hospitality and support at any track or community before. Many others from our hospital team also served as volunteers for the event.
It’s opportunities like this that demonstrate, not only to our community, but to many from outside the area, who we are and the kind of team we have—one that extends Christ’s healing ministry beyond our facility walls.
