Florida Hospital Tampa Cardiovascular Coordinator Angela Lorigan truly lived out the mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ one weekend while she was attending church. She jumped into action during the service, performing immediate CPR when one congregant suddenly went into cardiac arrest.
Angela, who usually works on weekends, had switched her schedule that day to be with her son on his birthday. While they were listening in on the service, she heard a cry for help from the congregant’s wife, and quickly moved in to take the man’s pulse. When she found none, she had others help her place him on the floor so she could start chest compressions while they waited for the emergency respondents to arrive.
Later on, when the man was taken to the hospital for treatment, the doctors said that his heart had stopped during the episode and that he had been moments away from dying. Angela’s swift actions helped save his life. It’s divine appointments like this one that put Adventist Health System team members in the right place, at the right time to be the healing hands of Christ.
