Our patients have the option to safely access health information online through a patient portal. This portal provides a secure and convenient way to view, download, print and share health information, such as results, discharge instructions, immunizations, medications, allergies, patient education and more.
If you are 17 years of age or younger and your parent or legal representative has created a patient portal account on your behalf, your health information in the portal will be visible to your parent or legal representative.
However, under state and federal law, there is some medical information that you can choose to keep private from your parent or legal representative. If you currently have certain protected health care conditions, such as pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, substance abuse or mental health issues (full list located below), there are a couple of steps you can take to keep the information related to those conditions private in the portal.
* Please Note: Your parent or legal representative may still access your health information not pertaining to the protected conditions through the health information management department.
Here is a general list of the protected health care conditions for minors recognized by state law in the states where Adventist Health System operates health care facilities. Please contact your health care provider to discuss your health care condition and the privacy provided to you by the laws of the state where you live to determine if you have any privacy rights to consent for the treatment of your health care condition without involving your parents.
