Lars D. Houmann,

Chief Operating Officer

Lars Houmann is chief operating officer for Adventist Health System. In this role, he oversees all of the organization's hospital divisions, as well as enterprisewide operational functions.

He previously served as executive vice president for Adventist Health System and president/CEO of its hospitals across Florida. During his more than 25 years with the organization, he has held numerous leadership roles, which include serving as president/CEO as well as executive vice president and chief operating officer for the Florida Hospital system; chief operating officer for a three-hospital region of Florida Hospital, and administrator for Florida Hospital Celebration Health; administrator for Florida Hospital Altamonte, with additional leadership responsibilities for Florida Hospital Kissimmee and Florida Hospital Apopka; a vice president for Florida Hospital, overseeing facility management for multiple campuses as well as the system's behavioral health services; and administrator of Florida Hospital's Center of Psychiatry. His experience also includes serving as administrative director for the Mountain View campus of Simi Valley Adventist Hospital, and in leadership roles for several for-profit hospitals in California and Arizona.

Houmann earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Washington Adventist University, a master's degree in health care administration from Loma Linda University and holds an honorary doctorate in health care administration from Northern Caribbean University in Mandeville, Jamaica.

He is an active participant in Adventist Health System's community involvement program, which supports several Central Florida nonprofits, and serves on the boards of the Florida Chamber, Orlando Economic Development Commission and Florida Hospital Association. Houmann is a member of CEOs Against Cancer, and supports the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association and United Global Outreach, among others. He also serves as executive sponsor of Florida Hospital’s Global Mission project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and is a bike mechanic for a local church’s homeless ministry.
