Adventist FACES
MISSION
To collaborate with Adventist organizations to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to communities not served by an Adventist Health System facility.
VISION
To share Christ’s vision of hope, health and healing in ever-broadening circles of ministry.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
FACES is designed to encourage and support medical and health-related programs initiated by local churches or church-related organizations. AHS has committed a total of $500,000 in annual funding to support this program.
Although not organized as a typical foundation, the operational structure resembles a foundation in many ways. Applications are solicited from eligible organizations, and evaluated and funded on the basis of overall merit. In addition to funding, AHS will support the development and distribution of program resources and requisite training of staff, volunteers, and church members.
The philosophy of FACES includes the following characteristics:
- Openness: Transparent commitment to the good of those attracted to holistic health programs.
- Inclusivity: Welcoming receptivity that transcends simple non-discrimination.
- Credibility: Professional, documentable, data-supported assertions and recommendations.
- Reality: Expectation that any improvement is good; not an “all-or-nothing” approach.
- Safety: Supportive, encouraging, accepting, forgiving, renewing environment.
- Engagement: Encourages personal commitment, involvement, & participation.
